The new outfits are based on the costumes they wore in the original Resident Evil 2, so Leon will have his old police outfit and Claire will have her purple biker gear. It's also possible to acquire these outfits by spending real money to unlock in-game rewards. If the player completes the story mode with one character, then they will unlock an alternate outfit for the other character that can be used on the next playthrough, as well as injured/jacket-free versions of the base costumes that are seen throughout the story. The people who own the PlayStation 4 version of the game can download "98" costumes for free, which look like the pixelated models from the original Resident Evil 2. Claire also has a biker outfit called "Elza Walker", which is a reference to the female lead of the original unfinished version of Resident Evil 2. Both Leon and Claire have an outfit called "Noir", which gives them a retro gangster costume. Leon has the "Arklay Sheriff" (think Rick from the first season of The Walking Dead), while Claire has "Military", which is army gear. It's possible to buy five costumes individually or in a bundle on the correct digital store the game, as well as by purchasing the Deluxe Edition. There are a number of different costumes in Resident Evil 2that can either be unlocked through regular gameplay or purchased as DLC.
